Should I have my child screened for services? |
The Bennington Preschool integrates three and four-year-old students without disabilities into the special education preschool classroom to act as peer models.

Is your child having difficulty with one or more of the following skills? If so, call Tammi Japp or email [email protected] to schedule a screening.
*Has unclear or garbled speech *Has difficulty expressing wants *Uses incomplete sentences *Gives inappropriate answers to questions *Does not seem to understand well *Does not appear to be learning at an average rate *Has difficulty using pencils, crayons or scissors *Is unable to identify colors and shapes *Is unable to count objects *Is destructive or unable to accept limits *Unable to focus on one activity for 10-15 minutes |
How to apply for the Bennington Preschool ProgramQualifications for Special Education
*residency in Bennington School District *3 or 4 years of age by July 31st of the enrolling year *results of screening/assessments in accordance with state special education guidelines and district policy *completed enrollment paperwork |
Qualifications for Peer Models *residency in Bennington School District *3 or 4 years of age by July 31st of the enrolling year *completed application process *completion of the preschool screening *placed in a lottery drawing for a chance at open spots |
The Bennington Preschool begins the application process for Peer Models on the last Monday in February each year. Please call the District Office at (402) 238-3044 on or after this day to schedule your screening appointment and have an application sent to you. Appointments will not be scheduled prior to the last Monday in February. Screenings will be scheduled and completed during March. The lottery drawing for peer models will be held on the first Monday in April (or the first school day in April).
